This Sunday morning started out sedately, with quiet city streets and an easy walk to The Palace of Flowing Waters, the most impressive architecture ever devised for a water pumping station (see photo). Then a quick tour of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, with its collection of lesser known works by the greats - Picasso, Braque, Modigliani, Chagall, Pollock, Rothko, Rodin, Manet, van Gogh, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Degas, Renoir, El Greco, Rubens … you get the idea. But by the end of the night we were drunk. They keep filling your glass at the dinner/tango show, which was - hiccup - excellent! Great musicians, talented dancers, an eclectic repertoire. And so much Malbec!
For breakfast Liz had a ham and cheese on a croissant, just like a local. I had a Milanese Wiener schnitzel Brazilian-style, if that makes any sense. Then more steak for dinner with pumpkin soup, potatoes and a cabbage slaw. For Liz, a hearty vegetable soup and the roast chicken. Dessert was pears in a Malbec reduction and flan with - you guessed it - dulce de leche.
