Today sizzled because it was all about the steak, and the Don Julio Parrilla, a renowned steakhouse in the bustling Palermo district, knows how to do steak. Afterward we strolled the streets and a park that was home to peacocks and monkeys and the strangest of creatures, the mara, a giant rodent from the Argentine Pampas.

A 500 gram ribeye, generously salted, a grilled yam, sautéed spinach, a shredded carrot salad with hard-boiled free-range eggs like you’ve never had before, Malbec (because it’s Argentina), and a dulce de leche crèpe - now that’s the breakfast of champions! Then vitello tonnato (thinly sliced veal in a tuna sauce) and smoked salmon for dinner.
