Guess what we saw at the Baths of Diocletian? If you said baths, you'd be wrong. Well, a few remains of baths, a tub or two, and the frigidarium. But the greatest bath complex Rome has ever known was turned into a monastery, then a church, then convent, then national museum, and is now home to a collection of busts, artifacts, and tombs. Now that I'm fluent in Middle II Classical Latin, I can read for you the inscription on a sarcophagus:

Here lies some Roman guys.

They'd conquer and plunder.

Now they're six feet under.

Had the best (ok - only) prickly pear in my life - really! And a pizza marinara, pizza margarita neopolitano tradizionelle, and panna cotta with pistachio and chocolate. Three espressos and a tall prosecco. Trousers getting tight.
